Letter from the President/CEO

Goodwill Industries of Southern Arizona (GISA) thanks you for being the catalyst to another successful year. Your donations, purchases, and support have been transformed into successful programs and services, engaging 11,502 Southern Arizona community members in need. Your support brought 24,000 visits to our Southern Arizona Youth & Career Centers, kept 37 million pounds out of Southern Arizona landfills and employed 655 fulltime, benefits eligible team members in Southern Arizona. That is no small feat.

The funds GISA raises from your donations and purchases are handled with care, and GISA is proud to share a non-profit efficiency rating of over 90%. Transparency is a key value held by our employees. This means your gifts have helped youth and adult community members find footing after incarceration. You have contributed to thousands of jobseekers finding new pathways and support for gainful employment. You’ve benefited countless families and their networks of businesses and services. And that impact is growing.

Although your support has contributed to a major positive impact in the Southern Arizona job market for many of our most vulnerable community members, there is still much to do. Inflation and a slowing job market are making it harder than ever for those with barriers to achieve certifications, access education, and find jobs. In the coming year, our organization and many others face budget shortfalls and uncertainty with potential cuts to contracts and grant opportunities, which comes just as our community needs the most support. With nearly 1 in 6 people in Southern Arizona facing poverty, your dollars help put people back on their feet and on a long term path towards success.

By donating $500 today, you can provide supportive services and enhance funded Workforce Development programming by removing barriers to success.

By donating $100 you can fund industry recognized certification and training to help participants move beyond entry level jobs.

By donating whatever you are able, you are supporting the programs and services of Goodwill Industries of Southern Arizona – programs and services YOU make happen!

However you support Goodwill Industries of Southern Arizona, you are making an impact, and we thank you!

– Erich Schmidt
